12HD24 engine. Guessworks says it's MG-Metro, 1988-onward. Probably unleaded (see notes).
Bought as a spare couple of years ago. Now I've sold my Mini so this is going too. Located SA67 8HF (SW Wales).
Head casting says 12G94... and the rest is lost in a pushrod hole. Has the oil-gallery rivet and is dated 6C9 which translates to 6 march 89. Keith Dodds' summary of heads gives Jan 89 as the end of leaded 12G940 manufacture - so this one is likely unleaded with hardened valve seats. No promises, though.
DAM5626 rod-change gearbox with pot-joints.
Engine is free, so is the water-pump, the diff spins by hand without untoward noises, and the clutch plunger moves. Oil that came out wasn't bad-looking. Pretty clean inside the rocker-cover, and the valve-stems I can see through the ports are shiny. So it was likely a runner whenever it came out of the car, and has been carefully stored since then.
Looks like it's never been modified or otherwise molested but, again, it's impossible to be sure until it comes apart. Mileage is completely unknown.
£750, collected. You're welcome to book it on PalletLine or a suitably-equipped Shiply, and I'll strap it to that pallet for collection. Can crane it into an open-top trailer or a pick-up, but I don't have an engine hoist to get it into a hatchback or a van.
There's a literal shedload of other parts, including gearboxes, to get rid of. I'll put up another ad later.
