Is there a recommended procedure for bedding-in a new clutch plate?

Nothing that isn't how it's always best to operate it. Match the revs, avoid excess slipping.

Just adjust it and drive it. Might need a bit of re-adjustment in about 100 - 300 miles.

Out of curiosity: when you say "adjust it", what kind of adjustment are you referring to? What is there to adjust on a clutch plate?

Read up on pre verto adjustment, setting the 7/16 stop, and gapping the 15/16 jamb nuts correctly, loads of threads on here about it (I read through the other week)

Verto is different, once new and set, jam nut gaps don’t have to be adjusted once bed in.

I’ve just reset my gaps after 100 miles running in ap racing clutchplate, for the op as above, no excess clutch slip, no emergency starts or hard pulls, gentle is key.

As above, the big nut where the clutch arm goes into the plunger in the middle of the clutch cover is called the throwout stop & stops you pushing the crank against its thrust bearing when its already been pressed far enough to release the clutch..

 

Pre Verto clutches also have a bolt underneath the the clutch arm that allows you to set it so the return spring just pulls the release bearing clear of the pressure plate.  That ensures the maximum throw of the slave cylinder is available to operate the clutch, as well as preventing noise & wear from the release bearing constantly spinning.
