Fuel Pump To Carb Pipe/hose

At the moment my mini with mechanical fuel pump feeds to the Hif44 via a gates fuel hose directly with an inline fuel filter fitted. Half way.
Should this be replaced and fitted with as standard, a hose from pump to pipe, then at the other end a hose from pipe to carb?
I know a lot of people dont like using a hose the complete distance but mine loops up towards the air box and around to the carb so it's as far away from the manifold as possible.

Depending what exhaust manifold you have, things can get pretty close or plenty of room, I see that you are using Gates Barricade which is good. Remember air is an excellent insulator so the more you can give it the better. My Mrs mini is set up exactly as you have explained with a mid point filter. I did add a heat sleeve as a belt and braces, it's been like this for years without a problem. My Mini on the other hand is going to be running steel pipework to keep things nice and neat.

PS
If you are anywhere near Essex/Devon I'll bend you a steel pipe up if you want.
