Intake Manifold Collars

Might be a dumb question, but when refitting the intake manifold on an spi, the alloy collars have a gap in them, which way should they be orientated on insertion - or doesnt it matter?

I don’t think it matters, when they are inserted into the rebate the gap closes up. On my daughter’s car, one of them was missing and I made one from some sheet. They are only there to align the manifold and the head and are inside the sealing surface.

To be honest I'd never thought about it, but not a dumb question. As above, it doesn't matter.
