Hi. I have just bought a 1K spray tin of BLVC60 AQUA (JMA) and it's a mile off the original colour. It's more blue than green and I wondered if anyone has had the same trouble.I am comparing the colour with the paint on the top dash rail that has been covered for 56 years. The label on the tin says OEM Code 5021 Description WASSERBLAU. I searched this on Google and a colour called Water Blue came up? Thanks.

If all else fails...take the car or a panel with a sample of the original Aqua colour to a supplier or paintshop with a spectrophotometer. They can then scan the colour composition and based on this measurement, they can mix the exact colour formula needed (or an alternative very similar colour) to ensure the new paint matches the scanned sample perfectly. Many paint suppliers can also put it in a spray tin if you require.

 

eg. 'BMW MINI Pepper White' is near identical to 'BMC/BL Old English White' as an alternative.

If you can polish the sample first they'll have a better time in matching.

Did you buy it from somewhere that specialises in automotive paint?

 

There are many other places that claim they can mix automotive paints but they have little experience so the colours don't match.
