Hey,
I've been looking at replacing the factory fitted air filter for a different one for a while but was unsure on which one to go for. K&N and Piper Cross seem to be the most popular but I've also seen Quickshift kits avaiable. Does anyone have a quickshift one on their Mini, if so what's it like?
Thanks

quickshift is a different gearstick/gear change mechanism as far as i know.
The K&N whistles loudly. The piperx sucks/swishes but its abit quieter.
*based on my experience with carb'd minis*
What year is your mini? SPI/MPI will require a different type from the carb minis, i dont have any experience of these.

Hey,
It's a 1996 P reg 1.3mpi .
I seen the quickshift filters on a e-bay. Instead of cotton or foam their made from fine steel mesh and don't need oiling. They cost about £20 more than K&N + Piper.

Quickshift are cheaper versions of K&N. I would personally stick with either K&N or Pipercross, there are a few injection filters on ebay right now going quite cheap, get on there and get one of them. They can be cleaned and re-used for a very very long time so why buy new when a 2nd hand cleaned one will do as good a job.

I'd say stick with K&N, Pipercross, or JR as a cheap alt.

I would stay well away from the metal gauze! This really don't filter very well. Vizards Yellow book backs this up

Foam or paper are the best for filteration on an everyday car in changing climates... stick with those types.

K+N no arguments, pipercross can clog up as its a foam with sticky substance on it basically!! k+n stil works better than a std filter when its clogged!!
