Hi, I've the basic remnants of a 72 Austin Mini (maroon) on SORN, registration CKV8K. Be a great base for total resto involving reshell. On the basis that its the slam panel and I've the original tags and V5 in my name, what would value be? Thank you.

The cost of a total Mini resto involving a reshell (it has to be a brand new Heritage bodyshell with proof of purchase to be legal under DVLA rules, not a cheap second-hand bodyshell), plus all the other parts needed would far exceed the value of a fully restored 1972 Austin Mini, so it would make no economic sense. However the single number digit 1972 registration number would have some value if it could be transferred, which I think DVLA requires the donor vehicle to be a complete car with MOT.

Also the DVLA in theory require a reshelled vehicle to have a certain number of key parts to be from the original car, so if you only have the slam panel and original tags it is not really legal to just sell a V5 as is often seen on Ebay, as it could be used to change the Identity of a stolen car, often known as a 'ringer'.

Probably best to keep what you have as motoring memorabilia or as a basis for a future Mini restoration done legally to DVLA rules by yourself.
