HI all,

 

now I am sure a Stage 3 MPI head will fit the SPI and just the MPI alternator bolt holes will show.

Is this correct?

 

And also if I have the MPI alternator bolt holes then could I fit the MPI alternator in the MPI position in the SPI? - It looks like it but not sure about the belt etc.

I ask because it seems there is a shortage of SPI heads for the manufacturers to modify (exchange).

I don't think the MPI alternator would work because it's fixed, there's no mouvement to tension up the belt and your block won't have the fixings for the MPI tensioner.

ok - i was also thinking about using the mpi alternator mounting holes for maybe holding the coil somehow as i think the coil looks really ugly where it sits on the LH side of the engine.

It will fit, but keep your alternator in the SPI location. As for the coil, there are some nice brackets out there to mount it flatter, or move it down onto the transfer housing.
