I was the video below and noticed he had some flanged exhaust stud nut where the flange can rotate infected of the nut. I asked where he got them and he said Minispares. I cannot find them on there.
Has anyone else seen them about?

Thank you Midas, They looked like one solid piece from the photo on the Mini Spares website.

 

Did you mean just your outer cylinder head studs are ARP?

Did you mean just your outer cylinder head studs are ARP?

Sorry wasn’t the clearest there, yeah the outer nuts you can just use normal brass nuts, inners with the floating washer for the inlet studs. I use arp studs with a hex end so you can wind them out easy, though you can slot a normal stud for that.

The ARP exhaust studs i have seen are flat ended, the ones from Swiftune at least. Do you know where you got your hex ended ones?

 

Are they not the stainless steel variety?

However, a few Mini specialist firms seem to stock ARP exhaust studs.
Perhaps they are just a similar spec?

Are stainless fittings a good idea on a steel cylinder head?

I find the constant heating and cooling of the studs in this application can lead to the threads tending to bind and can make clean removal difficult, a good anti scuffing compound applied when first fitting  does help to some extent though.

I still like to use a quality tensile stud, a heavy washer and the correct brass nuts.

ARP used to sell a stainless manifold kit AMS-1, which had bullet nosed studs, it's currently not available. Looking through the ARP catalogue I can't see any 5/16 unf/unc studs of the correct length, so I'm not sure what Swiftune etc are selling.
