Hi guys,

I managed to pick up a 998 cooper short engine just recently. It is a factory replacement as indicated by the engine number. (At first I thought it was an 850, until I looked at the D shaped pistons).

I was wondering what the going rate would be for one of thes to sell.
I need to get the bore dial gauge in and check it doesn't need a rebore. But it looks in good condition and the honing marks look still visible in the bores.
Pistons crank and Conrods all original and no signs of damage.

Would I be unrealistic to suggest a swap for a 1275 short engine?
As much as I love the nostalgia a 1275 would yield me more power for Motorsport events.

There’s not much that makes a 998 Cooper block different from a standard 998 block - really just the pistons and the engine number tag

If it needs a rebore or the pistons aren’t good then much of the value is lost I would think
