Ebay Vandervell Bearings Ok To Use?

Hello;
 
I found these although not sure if there condition is still good.  They were still in a sealed package, just old.  I will clean up with some 0000 steel wool and WD-40.  Thanks in advance!  Andrew

Don't use any abrasives on them to clean them. Small parts of that will shed as you clean them and embed in the soft bearing material, then in use, they will wear your crank. Just use some paint thinners and paper toweling.

 

They do have an appearance of possible water damage, see what they look like after a clean up. I'd suggest though, if after cleaning up, you have any doubts, just buy a new set, Mini Spares sell ACLs which are a top quality bearing, at least equal if not better than the Vandevalls.
