Hey guys, just after a few opinions really.
Checked out my 1275 bores after been sat for 10 years. It's heavily pitted but feel as though I could get away with a 20thou rebore.

What's the general consensus. Seems a shame really, the other bores still have very visible honing marks. I just don't want to but +20 pistons for
It then to need a 30 or 40tho bore.

I appreciate I need a dial bore gauge to fully assess the situation and
I will measure everything fully when building but also a picture speaks a thousand words

Cheers, Babs

You'd likely find that will clean up with a hone. You'll still likely see them, but as far as finish goes it'll be fine and really, f that's all there is of it, even if it doesn't make for a perfect seal, it's only in those few spots of the swept bore, you won't notice them. It would clean up with a rebore if you really wanted to go that way.

Thanks Spider, I was hoping you'd reply, I've always had great engine building advice from you before. At current the engine Is seized. I've filled the bores with penetrating fluid and ATF. I think I'll end up stripping it first rather than attempt to make it turn over. Last thing I want is to damage the crank unnecessary.
Glad it will clean up with a hone. I'd rather keep it 1275 as it gives me at least a few rebores left. I'll post up a pic of the cross hatching. I was quite impressed for an early ADO16 engine.

Thanks for the kind words and glad you've found it helpful. See how you go with the ATF and penetrating fluid, if in a couple of days, you don't have any luck there, then try diesel. Does sound link it wants a proper strip down though.
