From the street where Alec Issigonis lived as a boy to John Cooper’s Surbiton workshop, Autocar magazine traced the London origins of this motoring classic.
Starting with the Chobham/Longcross test track.
(The all-new BMC Austin Se7en and Morris Mini-Minor were first shown to the press on 18th and 19th August 1959 at the Chobham (now Longcross) test track in Surrey).
Crescent Grove in Clapham,
Battersea Polytechnic,
Cooper Garage in Surbiton,
King's Road in Hammersmith,
King's Road - Chelsea,
Mandela Street - North London,
(where the BMW MINI made its global debut in 2001 in a converted warehouse).

"This Autocar article was originally published on 2nd January 2015. Autocar is revisiting some of their most popular features to provide engaging content in these challenging times."
