sub - in the boot, in a box
components - either facing the occupants to give a good firing direction, or in the kick panels

i dont exactly know the measurements of a centre console, i got rid of mine ages ago. I would have thought you could fit an 8" sub in there with alot of modification. However in a small car like a mini it doesnt really matter where the sub goes, as its going to reverberate through the chassis and bodyshell.

i have a 10inch sub in the boot of mine and is only a cheap set-up aswel but has a fair bit of bass to it. if your at MITP ask 4 me n i'll let u have a listen. try to get the components in the front but make sure they dont point towards the floor otherwise it will prob sound pants and not be enough treble.

hi. i have a 10"sub behind the drivers seat in a box. fits nicely! 2 6x9's in my parcle shelf and 2 6x9's mounted under my back seat. next im goin to mount some 6" speakers on the front doors and posibly some tweeters in the dash.

Remember that the higher the frequency, the more directional the sound is. So for the high notes, you'll need the speakers facing you, but with the sub, back i the boot will be fine.
A standard setup is a sub in the boot, 6×9s in either the parcel shelf or under the back seats, and small-ish (13cm or 10cm) components or co-axials in the dash/kick panels.
