Hey just wondered if you would if having a s/c box on a 1275cc would increase bhp as i have found a mini for sale that states a 1.3 engine with a head a "works head " head it would shorely need to be bored / modified to get 130bhp e.g. 1293 or 1340 etc...

As the seller has stated that is has 130bhp this would clearly have to be rolling roaded "will double check to see if he has had this done or just saying as he has been told so by the previous owner etc" would the cylinder head or the block etc be enough to match up the rolling road paper work to prove the car has indeed 130 hp i.e engine number cylinder head number??? complicated i know but have only ever purchaed standard minis ...

How to know if the car has a s/c box and its not just nackard lol as had a mini and the box sounded s/c on the drops but was just nackard.

Thanks for reading my question/post

You'd really need a 1330 at least (preferably 1380 or more), with a very modified head, uprated cam, SC gears and drops, and preferably a 45 Webber to get that sort of power, and the drivetrain would need to be built very well to miniimise losses.

200bhp plus is possible with 1330cc if you know how, but im not telling :)

As for a '1.3' producing 130bhp, doubtfull just with a gas flowed head and SC box.

You will know if its a SC box it will sound like first and reverse gears do, all the time. LOL, just thought but then knackered standard boxes can sound like that.

Inflated horsepower figures are all too common these days :'( as are peoples confusion about at the wheel or flywheel figures and transmission losses.

Food for tahugs thanks for responding, so is there any way of confirming paper work to verify 130hp ???

the mini has roll cage, carbon fibe flip front, carbon f doord, bucket seats , mini lites on 165's 1969 so tax exempt 9 mot modified carbon fibre doors loads of rally bits, obvioulsy yhr so called 130hp engine at a guage how much you guys recon this would go for as i have see minis on this site standard go for £1500 for a 1990 etc.

130bhp, is more likely at the fly wheel, if at all sounds all a bit dodgy to me, for £1500, without stripping the engine you will never no were the dice will roll!!!

I'm going to say that it is a bog standard 1.3 due to the fact that without rolling road print outs (no way of confirming its the same engine either) and stripping the engine you don't know what modifications the engine has.

A mint shell, with CF bits, and tax exemption (I have a sneaky suspision its not over 30 years old though), I'd say about £2000-2500.
