As the title. Me and a friend are thinking of getting a mini (late 60s maybe early 70s) and we were wondering what sort of engines we could put into it? We are new to this whole engine transplant project thing. We know Vtecs are quite common, but we were wondering if anybody knew of any others (2.0s, 2.0 turbos etc?)

vtec, vauxhall and k-series transplants are the most common. Although it you set your mind to it, and have the nerve to do body mods and the skill to build subframes and suspension, i'm pretty sure you could put anything in you wanted!

im sure if u had the skills etc, u could fit a v8 in the front of a mini, which is probably the biggest u could physically want to put in 1 so anything smaller is possible

EDITED

If you get a clubman, then you can fit a gold GOLF engine, and ive also been looking at work, and been measuring up an engine from a new Audi S3, and possibly the RS4!!

just takes a lot of work.

Wow. The 1.8 20v turbo lump would be amazing in a mini. Easy 200+ bhp and reliability of a VAG engine. That would be a conversion I would love to see done.

Isn't the S3 the 3.2 litre? I too would love to see the 225 1.8t engine in a mini, would be an emense amount of work though.

WOW that merlin engine is mental!

Theres a guy putting the 225 1.8t in a mini at the moment on 16V, massive amount of work, he's widening and lengthening the body.

The new S3 is a 2 litre turbo 265 bhp

The 3.2 litre is from the quattro A3

I'd like to see the new S3 engine in a mini!
