I've seen a rover SD1 with a Merlin engine in.... and the guys that built it actually fitted twin turbos on too.... it's a goodwood sometimes!!!!!


i wonder how big a truck they took the gearbox off!!

yep, 27 litres and 12 cylinders :crazy: proper engine!! none of this baby cc revs a lot lark!! plus i bet the merlin powered sd1 would pull a 747 to take off speed!! quite easily

It's on piston heads. Russian (?) Centurion tank engine.... 4valve double over head cam,... before any car engine had that kinda technology on the drawing board!

Did the block who put oen in a rover SD1 put twin turbos on it?, 'because the merlin engine is supercharged. They rebuild them where i work.

to continue with Dogmatix's idea.........


13b Rotary (or a 20b if you can find one!) mounted on a beetle gearbox. Mount the beetle gearbox backwards into the front of the mini, so the engine pokes out the front, and you're almost done! :wub:

I beleive that you can turn something over in a beetle gearbox so that it would run in reverse as well (otherwise you'd be going backwards at 90+ mph if you fitted it like I suggested :P ) OR failling that, just flip the gearbox upside-down, would give the same results...

anyone heard of an austin champ?? an old 4wd landrover type

had as many gears in reverse as in forwards (4 speed i believe) they used to race them in reverse!!

i belive i saw these racing recently unless reverce racing is common.. ?
