I had wanted to do the whole engine swap thing but kinda realised it pointless before I even started to be honest. My mate buying a VX220 was the main thing to be honest. He has a turbo one which cost a bit more but you can get an NA one for around 5k and that will be faster and handle better then any engine swapped mini and you can easy spend that money on doing a swap!

I would rather keep my minis with a series and buy a VX if I really wanted a fast car. After every time I drive my mates I find my self on ebay looking at them shortly after haha.

Let me know how much you want for the roof rack then matt ;)

Well, I've had so many offers to buy the Allspeed and Vauxhall kits that I'm a bit blown away.

I've been offered around £600 for the frame, but I've also been offered close to £2k for the frame/shafts/engine/gearbox/manifolds/bodies and ECU.  I guess it's cost me a LOT more than that to put the package together and set it up....

£1300 on Allspeed stuff

£300 on bare engine

£250 on stuff from SBD (tensioners, idlers, ARP rod bolts etc)

£400 on Jenveys

£50 on inlet manifold

£150 on exhaust manifold

£100+ on silicon hoses

£60 on an MPI rad

£50 on a Pacet fan controller

£50 on an alternator

£50 on a gear linkage and brackets etc.

£120 on a new throttle linkage

£80 on new injectors

£150ish on ITG filter and sundry stuff

£150ish on ECU

£100+ on wiring sundries and cabling

£200 on various new sensors, coilpack etc.

I guess getting £2k back on a £3/3.5k engine spend isn't actually that bad.

I'm also going to strip out the GRP dash, the Acewell, the custom wiring module, the bucket seats, the harness bar and roll cage might stay, not sure yet.

I'm thinking of going for a 1275 A-series, with remote box. Maybe take it out to 1293 if I can find one in standard form that just needs a rebore and crank regrind.  Then just on a HIF44, 276, Aldon dizzy, Maniflow LCB nothing too special at all...just normal, plain, period Mini stuff.

I'm also thinking of fitting complete new inner wing/flitch panels, new A-panels too.  I've already got a new front panel and front wings to go on her.  Spray the whole thing in gloss black, drop the MK1 lookalike stuff too.  I'm going to aim for MK3 Cooper S styling I think.  Period, standard, tidy stuff.

So my shopping list now will be:

Inner wing panels

Flitch panels

A-panels

N/S outer sill

MK3 bonnet in steel (standard)

MK3 grille and surround

1275 A series and remote box

Twin bolt subframe

Adjustable bottom arms and tie bars

I'll be keeping the 6x10 GBs, the car will look pretty similar externally really.  Just the MK1 CF bootlid will be junked really.  I like the wheel/arch combo I'm running atm, so that will stay.

Out with the New, in with the old..... I'm pretty certain about doing this now.

Butttt, I'm thinking of building a semi decent A series, rather than a standard one.

Been eyeing up 7 port heads now. >_<

Just not sure how much a remote box can take.

Hmmmmmm, I guess.

I've found a 1275 A-series with a remote box.  Safest to assume it'll need a rebuild.  So I'm thinking I might as well just buy that now, rebuild it now, then it'll be ready to drop in.

I need to do a shopping list.  Boring stuff like pedal box, master cylinders, standard centre binnacle etc.
