Yes and no. To get 1430 you offset bore and then have the crank stoked iirc

The largest bore possible is 74mm which with a standard stroke gives 1399cc, i would go to 73.5mm giving 1380cc. You can have the crank stroked to give 1600cc but not a very nice road engine, If I were to do mine I would go for a +20 giving 1293cc. Any good machine shop will be able to do the work, you can bank on spending around £80-£100 on rebore

Yes and no

great answer

yes it is possible. but i wouldn't bother. they are short lived engines, buy a cheap 1275 and rebore it so that it's fresh.

right then.

you will need to tell your insurance iof any mods you do as it will null and void your insurance if you do not.

Also please post in the correct sections.

my mini has had a engine changed so many times since first person so another wont matter and with a bigger cc engine its not reli noticeable and the car will just be swapped back to 998 if there is a crash

above 73.5mm the blocks liable to flex, and not all blocks can be taken out to 74mm anyway, I have one in my garage which blew an oil way when bored to 74.

and there's absolutely not point trying to disguise a 1275 block as a 998

Pretending to not be 'bovvad' is just ludicrous. As people have already said, to change your engine from a 998 to a 1275 and not tell your insurance is stupid. How old are you? Insurance will be a killer with any mods if you are a young un.

Please be more responsible when posting threads like this!

If, however, you do wish to change your engine for a more powerful unit, then fit a standard MG Metro 1275 engine, they are a good engine (if you find one in good nick).

Whatever you do, tell your insurance or you could end up in serious trouble (no matter how bovvad you are).
