Hi,

Having noticed a significant oil leak from under my 998 auto I have hopefully pinpointed the problem to a missing gearbox to block bolt. It's one which is really difficult to get to -just above the passenger side inner CV joint in the corner next to the timing gear cover.

Could anyone please tell me what thread type this missing bolt is and how long it is? It's so that I can obtain one locally and hopefully cure the leak.

Cheers,

Spud.

Cheers!

Though not the answer I was looking for

I am planning on upgrading to a 1275 manual sometime next year and was hoping that the present set up would last til then.

Is it worth a try with a new bolt?

Cheers.

Does anyone know what thread and length it is as I'm led to believe that some threads on the engine are UNF and some are UNC?

Cheers,

the bolt is 1/4 unf and about an 1" should do the trick. or 3/4 should also do

also the leak could be coming from the pot joint seal itself, just an extra thaught for you
