im running on drums, and the rubber thngy that holds the grease that attached on the the drum hub, where the drive shaft goes into is split.

what is the rubber thingy called, because i wana get sum new ones for a disk setup im gonna put on.

will it really matter being split for a couple of weeks?, solong as i keep filling it with grease? as i cant be bother to change it, if im goin over to disks ina few weeks

....you mean the CV boot perhaps?

Not a good idea to run with any rubbers split. lets in grit and various other rubbish. Should change the rubber, at least give it a good clean with white spirit when you come to change everything.

why not just go to your local parts shoppe.

cost like £4 but you'll get 2 and no delevey charge. I love my local parts shop for little things like rubber boots for parts. mean you can do it right there and then, no waiting.

if you are going to change to disks in a few weeks, and wont be using the car much, and don't care about the drum set up anymore, don't worry about fixing it! the car will still drive with a split boot. there's thousands of cars on the road with split boots and noisy cv joints...... gives you an excuse to change to discs earlier!

you can get a universal cv boot that is split you just cut the old one off clean the area put new greese in the joint (comes with the kit)wrap the new boot round the shaft and glue down the seam no probs
some say they dont last long but i did it on a car i had and it lasted a few years!
