Well ive taken it out for a good run today and making a sort of grinding noise when coasting in gear, Also the oil pressure remains constant at 20psi when at idle and when driving?
Topped up the oil and it doesnt seem to have gone down much, though its still smoking badly
I cant really afford to strip it down and replace it at the moment, you think it will be ok to run it when its like this?

Oil in head ports

well the more you run and drive it as it is the more damage will be caused.
upto you really but it sounds like a false economy to me asw it will probably end up costing you more if you dont do it now.
And for about 150 quid i think CAU998 has a 1275 engine for sale that would pretty much be a straight swap.

Idler noise??
As 'boo said, there's not really much point in driving it round as it is, I guess it's up to you though.

20psi is too low really, if you can't afford to strip it down now, well, I hope your coming into some money soon, since the more you drive it with that oil pressure, the more damage you'll do and the more expensive it will be.

mine was drawing oil through the timing cover breather, i disconnected it from the carb, and it cleared the smoke. it was only intermittent though.
