Found this on a website not a bad idea what would be the disadvantages?

It is only a wood shaft at the moment but a steel one was going to be made.

Well at the moment, the absence of a differential may cause a few problems.....

the idea is good if you are only gonna use the car in a straight line! you will hit a corner and try and turn the steering wheel and its just gonna keep going in a straight line! scary...

OOOO  wudnt want to do that in the front, but it'd be great in the back for a drift car.

This polo drift project is excatly like that - just a solid rear axle, no diff, and i pretty sure theres no suspension either. I had the link for the project, but i cant find it now, its on a vdub forum somewhere lol

Having no diff should be the last of its worries. I'm pretty sure that sprocket set up is off of a go cart. My best mate has a tricked up 125 Gearbox cart and I've seen him break those sprockets. Admittedly this is only when he is doing standing starts. With the tyres warmed up, it'll pull 60 in around 3.5 to 4 seconds and that is with a 125cc 2 stroke. If he can manage to break them with that type of power and weight, how the heck would they stand up to 140+bhp of R1 power or the like and the added weight of a mini?
