**The K-series subframe WILL need modifying in order for it to fit onto the mini:

no it wont. i know this because ive got a K series subframe sat infront of my mini. it needs a couple of mounting brackets to hold it in place, but it doesnt need modifying. the only thing close to a 'mod' is to weld 2 towers on the top. but you dont even need them to make it fit, they are for strenghtening purposes.

Lmfao! :w00t: so... fabricating and welding two new towers onto a subframe so that it fits a different car isn't modifying it! :ghost:

the answer is in the words......

if the K series bolted straight in and that was it, many more poeple wouldve done it by now. as it isnt that simple its obvious to state SOME mods will be needed.

here we are again -

**The K-series subframe WILL need modifying in order for it to fit onto the mini:

the frame DOESNT need modifying TO FIT onto a mini! if you just want to FIT it then knock up 2 BRACKETS. the towers are a structual point, not nessicarily needed TO FIT.
as stated above, one must expect SOME extent of mods, at least you can FIT the subframe in place and see how to knock up some towers....... the towers themselves leave some people confused as some dont know what size, where exactly to put them etc etc.... which is why i say to go find a metro subframe and LOOK at it as physically seeing it might shed a bit of light.

as the subframe is the starting point, this can put people off - me personally cannot weld so would struggle to HUGELY modify an A series frame so i have to look at other options. other option is to mount 2 towers on a K. ok, so where? how far back? what size? some people think they know and have answers to everything (dont they Retro_10s) but others like myself openly admit I HAVE NO IDEA. so what better way to find out than put a subframe in place. Oh hold on, according to SOMEONE (retro_10s) i need these towers to make the subframe FIT. catch 22. see what i mean? but 'ol bright spark ere decided to plead ignorance, knocked some brackets up and have the subframe IN PLACE, FITTED in the front of the shell. now i can see/measure/work out how to knock some towers up :w00t:

now the subframe IS FITTED (without towers) not only can i work out for myself dimensions etc of towers, but also support brackets for the bottom of the subby AND the gearbox mount. as i have spent time lookin in 16vminiclub i have seen many pictures of other peoples work so have a rough idea of the ways i want to do it.

that help clear things up?

I think I kind of get what you mean, but it has confused me a bit, but rather than get you to write it all out again in terms a monkey would understand I'll simply say this to Binge. Don't think you can get a K series frame and bolt it to a mini (I believe we can all agree on that?).

this is what i'm saying... it doesn't bolt straight in...

This forum is not a place for personal attacks. I would like you to point out where i claim to know the answers to everything... if i did know everything, do you think i'd be registered on a forum?... I openly admit i have no idea on some subjects... again.. this is why i am part of a forum which offers help in a friendly way to all who seek it, should i have a question I can post up and recieve advice, and i think you will find many post where i have asked questions.

Also... what is catch22?... i think you mean cache22.

Look you clearly have a lot of knoweledge that is useful, and i for one would be happy for it to be revealed on this forum, sir you are a credit, :w00t: however i do not understand why you have posted in such a confrontational way, and i do not understand your personal attack on me. Forum guidelines are available, please read them.

OK , A metro front subframe CAN be bolted straight up to a mini with no modds (using watsons rally conversion plates ) allthough you do have to unbolt the hydro units first , but it could not be used like this as it is not strong enuf , but it doffo will fit and be bolted on , once it is bolted in place you can add the tower mounts and the rear lower mounts (moddify after fitting)
SO to sum up :
A metro subframe will fit on a mini without moddifing (fact, been there ,done that, got the pics to prove)
a metro subframe can not be used on a mini without being moddified (my friend Andy is in the middle of this prossess now on my mini van)

'tis pretty easy to work out paul and make your own :w00t: if you have a subframe and a bit of sheet metal, you can measure and mark out the bolt holes for the subframe and likewise for the 4 bolts in the shell. make a template with cardboard, use thin metal to practice on if need be....... heres how i went about it. finished now tho so was a tydied up when i was happy with it
