Thinking of buying one of those alarms that you can start the car with on the key fob, although what wires would you connect it to? I had a look at the wiring diagrams in my Haynes but couldn't really work it out.

So how can you start a mini from under the bonnet?

I'm also about to get annother mini, which is potentially a non runner, so this could be useful for that too.

My current mini is an early 76, and my other is an 83. If that makes any difference?

Splam.

you join to your ignition wires and to your + coil if its the same as mine and also you may get 2 ON wires they both got to the same wire. if you need more help i can go and see exactly which wire go to were and colours :)

You will need to buy a remote starter. All the instructions will come with the unit. I am not sure if you can buy a unit with a built in alarm but I would imagine somone does. Try doing a google search for car remote starter and you should get some sort of hit to start you off. As for finding out what wires do what on the back of your ignition block you could find out by using a fluke and turning the key to each setting and testing which wire has changed in voltage.

Doesn't help much I know

heres a few links I found

Heres one with an alarm

Have fun! I would like to here about how much you end up forking out for it and how easy to install it was etc.....
