Anyone Who Can Help Please!!!

I was giving the engine a good clean so moved all the electrics out the way and wiped down with sparkplugs with an old cloth (1 of many :gimme: ) Went to start her back up and she will turn over at 10000 rpm with the choke but when i drop the choke to less i get spurts and splurts then red light on the dash comes on and she cuts out. also when i try to accelerate i get loud bangs from the engine which gets super hot!?!?

:'( :'( Please any help!!! :'( :'(

check all your earths, check you've wired the coil correctly, and check your plugs are in the right sequence....

basically go over everything you've done..

P.S> also did you mess with the carb?

DO NOT RUN THE CAR UNTIL THE PLUGS ARE IN THE RIGHT ORDER, YOU WILL KILL YOUR ENGINE IN NO TIME.

Number one cylinder is the sparkplug hole on the right hand side of the engine as you look at it. So If i was to write on the sparkplug holes their relevent numbers as you look a the engine, it would look like this 4-3-2-1.

When the engine runs ,these cylinders fire in a sequence which is 1-3-4-2.

The distributor is the object you took the leads off on the left hand side of the engine bay. The dizzy's internals spin ANTI-clockwise... you have four lead sockets on the dizzy cap (not inlcuding the one in the middle)

As you look at the engine wire the HT leads in this order:

sparkplug 1 to dizzy socket on top right
sparkplug 2 to dizzy socket on bottom right
sparkplug 3 to dizzy socket on top left
sparkplug 4 to dizzy socket on bottom left

that's off the top of my head os i'm sorry if i made some mistakes... someone correct me if i'm wrong and if it's an arse to understand lol!!!! (it confuses me!)

Did you fill the carb dashpot (the bit you took off) with engine oil?

P.S> (did i get the dizzy bit right?) it's been a while since i looked at a mini with an engine in lol

Dizzy bit sounds right.

I would be more concerned that your engine was going over 10000 rpm when you pulled the choke out ! :gimme: :gimme:

if you didn't fill the dashpot (carb) back up with fresh engine oil, then you need too., with the carb all together as it would be, unscrew the black cap and squirt some oil down the hole, fill it up to the 'shoulder' of the pot.
