this might sound like a really dumb question but i need to ask it in order to save myslf some time.
i didnt think that i would switch my 10's with 12's or 13's but i might consider it soon.
are the stud holes distances in classic mini wheels specific to minis.
if not can anyone tell me what are the specs and which other cars have the same sizes?

The mini wheel hole spacing is totally unique to Mini's and some Triumphs i believe and possibly very early metros...

it is 4"pcd and is the same on ALL mini wheels regardless of size, width, and model.

a 175/50R13 is about the lowest profile thats worth running on amini and im sure its about the lowest you can get. and its still bigger than a 145/80R10. what brakes are you running?? your profile says its an 850 so im assuming its drums?? not so fun stopping 13's with drums. mini 8.4" brakes or metro vented units with the 4-pot pipe conversion and negi camber lower arms and adjustable tie rods is a very good thing to do.

i got drums.
i do intend to get discs up front soon no matter what wheels i use.
i was considering the upgrade due to the unavailability of 10 tyres but i might be able to source the tyres after all.
i wanted to know which wheel & tyre combo would have a similar height as thick walled 10 tyres so that it would look good without having the need to cut.
i saw a local mini with 12's (couldn't be 13's?) and very thin walled tires that looked very nice but i was passing by at night so i didnt get to see the tire size.

i know, its unbelievable.
i wish i could just drive down the road and buy 165/70/10 tyres.
10 tyres are extinct here.
we have to ship them in from minimania if we really want to keep 10's.
most mini owners are now on 12's or 13's.
the situation is becoming very bad.
sometimes i wish i was in the UK to have all the minis and accessories you lucky people have.
but down here we have nothing.
not even tyres :gimme:
when i come to visit my aunt in Kent i'm walking with a bag of cash and a big empty suit case.
what's the easiest way to ship tyres? in a barrel? :gimme:
i really want to stick with my 10's but i will need a better job.
if any of you guys want to offload those 165/70/10's we would love them.
