I want to find the widest steel wheels that will fit on a mini, any size will do as long as its wide and steel.
please pm me if you have any info.

Wellers are steel wheels, and you can get them in 10x6 (which is the widest you can get a road legal tyre for (without stretching!)).

I'm curious as to why you want Steel though? Its not something that is asked for very often.

exactly that reason. its not done often on minis and i have a way of making them look nice (possibly). any ideas where i can get them from. Im meaning standard(ish) looking wheels aswell not alloy lookalikes in steel.
Any ideas on 12s??

If you want standard-ish looking wheels just get some hubcaps for whatever wheels you end up getting. However, IMO wide wheels won't look standard, especially as you'll need to arch them (according to the offset).

nah dont want hubcaps, just want plain steel wheels. wide enough to look it (if you know what i mean) i dont want anything stupid just wide steel wheels hense seeing if people knew of other cars standard steelies that fitted. and im currently deciding which arches to put on anyway so thats no great problem (however ideas on which arches to get would be helpful as im stuck by choice)

if this post doesnt make sense then sorry but is difficult trying to type what im thinking

if you find steel wheels of another car remember to check the PCD a mini had a 4inch pcd
what some people have done is banded the wheels this is illegal and shouldnt be done if its a road car, if you want to know what it is look through google

Yea, PCD = stud pattern, all mini's have a 4" PCD, which is 101.6mm, don't try fitting wheels of a 100mm PCD!

And its yet to be proven that banded wheels are illegal, if I'm not too busy I'll whip off a couple of emails this avo!

i asked our tyre department and it is illegal for banded wheels.
i know i wasnt intending on fitting the wrong wheels. looking at 1.3 rover metro wheels or something along those lines but wanted suomething a little more different.

If you go down to 10's you obviously have the option of Cooper S or Reverse rims which are 4.5" wide and do look nice with 165's on

Metro steelies would fit but they have a viscous offset so would need spacers, the other option is to find wheels of older BL (circa '70s) vehicles..

eg Austin 1100's, allegros, princesses and those with rwd which have a +ve offset like MG's, marina's etc etc

but I think the best ever looking steelwheel are the rostyle, which do crop up every so often in 12" form for minis.
