How easy is it to swap a set of gears over to another mainshaft? the one i have has a knackered speedo end so would swap for the one in my gearbox at the moment

There are easy bit's and not so easy bits...

the 1st gear and synchros basically drop off, but the 2nd and 3rd gears are held in by locking plates and sprung loaded pins, these can be a right royal pain, and need a very fine screwdriver and punch/pin to remove and replace...

The gearbox build guide in the FAQ shows you how to put them back on

The alternative is I could supply you with a replacement with the 2nd & 3rd gears already attached.. just need to know what gears ( A or A+ )

ts a set of sc gears so would only needto swap the shafts. Also do dog gears use a different mainshaft to "normal" gears?

Ah! had a feeling you were going to say that :D

I believe they use the same shaft for dog gears, but with gearkits like the quiafe the selector forks need to be changed. That's for 4 speed, 5 and 6 speed obviously use different shafts.

There was one posted on here recently, and from a look at the pictures I'd put good odds on them being the same forks and shaft.

so its a good chance that its just a straight swap? ill get a pic of the gearset if you could tell me.

**edit** The jack knight website says that an A+ shaft needs to be used
