mk1 engine conversion????

Right here we go i got a mk1 850 which has droped a valve it has the magic type gear selector does any one know if a later gear box will mate to this selector type is it only the selector that is different or is it the gearbox aswel???? thanks for ant help you may be able to give

Nope it's a completely different box... I think you use to be able to get a convertor plate which allowed you to use a later remote change box, but absolutely cop all chance of using a rod change...

any idea on where i may be able to get a direct replacment engine and box of a larger variety
