Hi Guys

We are currently refurbing the gearbox and I have been looking through different suppliers.

Looking at the Mainshaft, I have found a price difference that is quite considerable.

Has anyone purchased either (or both) and would be able to shed some light on the reason for the vast difference?

If you're after a new one, Min-its had some going for a song,

there are actually 3 different 3rd motion shafts for the 4 synchro,

One for the A series,

and two for the A+,

firstly you need to get the right one for the gearbox, either A or A+, this is dictated by the nose bearing A series 14mm and A+ 18mm....
secondly there were two A+ shafts with different threads on the end for the pinion retaining nut.. can't remember the sizes of the top of my head...

What's wrong with the one you have, as it's realy only necessary to change the third motion shaft if the nose bearing has disintegrated and taken the shaft with it, which usually means the input (1st motion) shaft is also fubar.

Hi Guessworks

I was just looking, as the layshaft is showing wear, a bit like a rocker shaft in colouring and preparing for the worst. It is an A+.

Thanks

The colour of it imaterial, if there's no breakup, then most of the time you're better to continue to use it.... same with layshafts.....
