speedo problems

ok firstly i have some mechanical knowlege
ive taken the old speedo cable and put a new 1 on and b4 ne1 asks its connected
whats the likelyhood thats its the speedo its self my car is on a G plate
and i really dont hope the problems at the other end i guessing its engine drop time if it is ?? can ne1 help ???

What I would do personally is:
Detach the cable from the speedo head, put it somewhere I can see the inner cable and run the engine.
If it turns you have drive and it is a problem with the head, if not then it is fun time.

also right cable for speedo ( should have a white plasticy end with a metal insert )
Way to test a speedo, stick a match in the back and twist, if needle flicks then ok...

How on earth did you get your arms down there to untwist the cable off? I tried laying under the car and could only get 2 fingers on it from that angle and 2 from on top. My arms are all scratched up from the forcing of skin to mesh with the small wires and connectors for the hoses.

taking the timing cover off makes it damn easy to do.

There's a hole in the subframe at the rear you can just get your hand in.

if u have skinny arms u can get ur arm down tha back and do it from the top getting it up on some ramps is the best option i have found in car, failing that fit it before the engine gets put in.
