I have just fitted a new boot seal that fits to the boot lid itself, but I cannot shut the boot as the new rubber won't compress, any ideas what I can do? At the moment I have had to take the seal off so I can shut the boot.

Not exactly the prescribed method for adjusting the boot catch there Adam. If you need a bit more space you can pack the catch out by adding washers under it but it should be a tight fit when the rubber is new.

If I alter the plate the boot wont sit flush I have pushed as hard as I can without denting the boot lid. I was thinking of putting the seal in hot water to help it compress it I could space the catch maybe to start off with maybe this will slowly crush the rubber.

I think I will try packing the lock first with a few washers it nearly catches so hopefully it will break in the new seal .

Try mini spares or mini speed and ask for genuine gaskets, if not I can get them but you will have to pay postage obviously on top. I did measure the gaskets and they are more like 1.5mm.
