I think i have a similar problem with my mini. It is recently back from body work getting done and i have had a mk1 bootlid fitted on my 1970 mk3. at the bottom the boot fits flush but at the top ot pokes out a fair bit and is a nightmare to shut. The guy who fitted the boot bent the latch a bit so the boot would actually shut but it looks awful. The boot has the seal on the lid and was thinking of fitting a later body mounted seal would this help?

The hinges how ever dont have gaskets on them so i have just ordered some but will this really make that much of a difference?

I have just fitted a new boot seal. It was fitted to the lid but I have replaced it with a body seal, and it too is a pain to shut. It sits fine on the offside but sticks out by about 1/2" on the near side.

I think it is just a matter of waiting til summer and getting some heat into the seal, so its a bit more plyable.
