Just take the rotor arm with you and/or a plug lead.

A mate of mine just does that, he takes out his Rotor Arm.

Why not just clamp your own mini? :) - it'll probably stop traffic wardens sniffing around too and it's impossible to tow and drive with one on.

It's what I plan to do if mine ever gets on the road  don't want no scrote nicking my pride and joy so I'll make it as hard as possible on my budget - was thinking of installing some Mr Bean style padlock doorlocks for just sheer class but I doubt many people would appreciate it - although it'd be more secure than my mini locks, If I can't find my key I use a lollypop stick.

bit off topic but is it true if you have 10" wheels you cant get clamped because the wheel clamps only go down to 12" wheels ?

yep, it is, but they will probably just tow you away, or give you an uber fine :)

a mate of mine had a cavalier once and the previous owner split the ignition wire through a discreet switch at the back of the glovebox. The switch had to be on before the power would get to the ignition barrell... bt, he wasn't told this by the guy he bought it off, drove the car for a few weeks trouble free, until he put a cd wallett in the glovebox one day and then the car wouldn't start.

Took the AA an hour to figure out about that tiny switch =]

this si what i was going to do but one thing worries me is will this still work if i have a immobiliser its wont stop that from working will it.

so in my case i would need to turn immobilser off and switch the switch on in order to drive my car.

i was thinking of this because immobilsers are great but if someone has my keys im buggered

Depends on what the immobiliser isolates, i think all the guy did on the Cav, was remove the cable from the ignition barrel, and wire it to one side of the switch the the other side of the switch to the barrel.

hi guys, just another idea... ive just ordered a snap off boss kit and carry case for my omp steering wheel.

its quite cool and its probably the one of the best ways to stop theifs i think. i mean would you even bother try stealing a car with no steering wheel? lol

really easy to fit aswell by the way

my father suggested a key cutoff switch before the coil to stop power reaching the coil and distributor to stop the engine from going no matter what you do...

still think it would be a good idea to stop these a-holes getting into ones one reason to live....

If that's safe, I think it would be better to permanently ground the coil, as its very easy to pull a 12v feed to the coil from the fuse box
If i'm not mistaken, that's what FIA approved battery cutoff do also beside disconnecting the battery, doesnt it?
