It might also be worth replacing the rocker cover gasket too, because the gasket can go hard and then allow oil to run down the back of the engine and as its not usually apparant from the front, it leads you to think there's problems elsewhere.
So remove all trace of the old gasket with gasket remover and fit a fresh cork one in it's place.
It sometimes helps if you use a little gasket glue to help keep the gasket attached to the rocker cover, because it's difficult to see and keep it in place at the rear.
Don't overtighten the rocker cover bolts, just pinch them down nicely with a ring spanner until you feel slight resistence. Overtightening with a socket will result in a slightly warped rocker cover which will then allow oil to flood out the back.
Whilst the covers off it might also be a good time to set the valve clearances (tappets) too and I remove the spark plugs, put the car in second and then roll it back and forth like a babies pram so I can make the necessary adjustments.
