don't take a HT lead off, mini's will run even on two cylinders just about (as you noticed on three!). Take the king lead off, ie the one from the coil to the dizzy, no chance of any sparklings jumping about then!

You need to take more than one, you can butcher the other leads to fit in place of the main one with nothing more exotic than a pair of pliers.
Anyone else getting Deja-vu?

Sorry, just being cheeky but I said you could still start it with one lead missing when someone was asking about Dis-carnect units.

But then neither is a kill switch. Or an immobiliser, for that matter.

A few years ago in London some thieving scum made the theft of the century when he nicked a Met Police Hi-Ab! These guys went around town for a few weeks picking up all the posh motors they wanted, Porshe's, Beemer's, all the stuff most people in the street would really hate. That way no-one interfered when they picked up these cars with their alarms blaring away and stuff, and of course they looked all official with their big shiny Police truck!
No matter how posh your car is or how good your alarm is, if someone really wants to take it you can't do a thing to stop them.

Dan - now thats class, you have got to admire their thinking there then, even if I don't agree with them.
I got offered a Thatcham approved top of the range alarm yesterday with all the usual stuff, as well as intellistart, door popper fuction, the lot, for £120. Thats a massive saving, so I'm thinknig its proably an alarm thats been nicked! Massive glaring irony there, but as long as it works I don't care.
Its something else I must get around to doing, as well as ordering the Wellers, DTM exhaust, spots, grill and interior kit that I want. The money is burning a huge hole in my pocket and coming on here and reading about other people's mods just gets me more depressed!
Well there is my short rant...phew. What were we talking about again?

Dan's quite right, if some one wants your car, then they are going to take it come hell or high water... whatever you have protecting it... personally, yes, I'd be gutted if some theiving little toe-rag had away with me min.
Therefore, if you have money to spend on security, I'd be spending it on a tracker, at least then, 1. you may get it back in one piece, and 2 they may catch the peskie bleeders aswell...

oh.. ps, the only 1/2 secure place on a mini is the boot, just undo the battery, at least they have to run and bump start the thing to take it !!
