Hi everyone, just a quick question.

Is it worth removing the paint from my mini back to the bare metal, i.e. primer and colour or just the top layer and respray over the old primer?

flat back and repaint over the primer (making sure its sealed first!) bare metal is an expensive gimmick at times.

As above. No need for bare metal, unless you have rust somewhere..

I would advise using a magnet and checking for body filler. If there is a questionable substrate I would strip her back. You would be surprised what a strip to bare metal can reveal: bad patch work, bad collision repair, ect. If you are comfortable with the base paint or primer and the the tinworm is not bad you can rust prep and respray. It sucks to spendthe bucks on a paint job and have bubbles appear 6 months down the road. A strip to bare metal will let you set everything right prior to painting.
