Ok, tried a search but no joy! Just got my 1380 up and running and im running her in. Problem is after about 15-20 min's if i pull up at some lights and try to select 1st gear it doesn't really want to go in without persuasion. Even then sometimes it crunches slightly. I don't know if its the KAD quickshift or whether straight cut boxes do this as its the first one i've used. If this has been posted before, apologies.

I have set the clutch up repeatedly exactly to the haynes manual, turning it the extra flat etc. It has been bled through properly too. The wierd thing is its only first that does it and only when its warmed up. Also ive had a word with a mechanic who worked on minis he says if you heat the clutch arm up and bend it towards the slave cylinder 1/4 inch that may help. Anyone tried that?

If it crunches when you try and select reverse at the time you are having this problem then it is clutch drag

so what should i do if i have set it as haynes says, sorry for sounding daft but i have spent way too much on my mini to set it up wrong. Forgot to say theres a brand new clutch in it should i let everything wear in before tinkering?

frankly - that is a bodge used when components are worn out.

is the arm and plunger in as new condition?

what flywheel / clutch do you have?
