have been running my headlights on two toggle switches and today lost all power .seems to be power at the switch according to the multimeter. does this mean the realy has gone? everything else works fine?any ideas

It depends how its wired, but i would presume that the toggle switches work on the coil side of the relay. Therefore, if the relay has lost the main feed to it - via a blown fuse- then the switch would still have voltage. If you remove the relay you will see numbers writen on it. The switch, when moved to ON postiotion, will supply voltage to either pin 85 or 86. The main feed should be at pin 30.
It really depends on how it is wired up though, i can't remember exactly how its done on the mini

Check if there is power at the headlamp with the switch on. If there is check the earth return for the lamp or change the lamp. If there isnt then pull the relay out and check if there is power there. If there is then, with a multimeter check the resistance between the relay and the headlamp. If the resistance is low (0-2 Ohms) then the relay is knackered.

cheers , ill have a look tomorra, just fitted new bloody dahs too wish id made it easier to remove now though.
