i bought a hiff44 carb today and it doesnt seem to want to go on, what do i need to do to get it to go on, i tock the old one off and tried to put the new one on but i couldnt get it to go on the inlet studs, so i got the inlet studs of and tried to get it on with no studs but it still wont line up, it just sitts to high..

did you take the manifold off the car to fit it? that would make things much easier. Also what inlet manifold are you fitting it to?

i couldnt get the manifold off because one of the studs has sheered and the nut wont come off, and its the one that comes with the stage 1 kit

the carb sits higher than the manifold? does it fowl on the bulkhead?
maybe you should try a smaller insulator block.

Small square block, about 10mm thick that sits between the inlet manifold and the carburettor. It helps insulate th carb and float bowl from the engine.
You can get thicker or thinner ones to reduce fouling. Also if your handy with a dremel you can shape it with the carb and inlet manifold to ive improved flow ito the engine... )
Edit: Small square block, actually about 80mm square with 44mm hole through the middle, if it's the right one
