Well you would think that but actually i was pretty sh....well not very good anyway, to be fair i was running on street tyres(yoko A539) and most people had slicks which of course you should really and it was the first time i had ever driven the car in anger but im not making excuses for me being pants. The rallyee didnt really blow me frock up, but you would be suprised there were some very ordinary looking cars out there-with drivers who had some experience and on the track they were really very quick, i could out accelerate a good few on the straights but just struggled in the bends despite much experimenting including dropping tyre pressure to around 15 psi and getting numerous cornering tips, must have span it over a dozen times and still a lot of those guys were faster than me

Not to detract from the car it felt great, feels really suited to the track and was faultless all day, it was a laugh giving it a tube opener on the main straight, most i got was 125 and then hard on the brakes for a tight right hander-was a good day

My 1275 was Vermillion, cant remember whether it was Orange or red though !! I was only 17.Doh

I'm on the same tyres. How did yours handle on the damp concrete?

Hi hilty thanks for that, have had a word with my local freindly mini anorack and was told its called vermillion red but its orange as eveyone can see! When i was 17 i could only dream of a mini- i had a morris ital as my first car took the bumpers off, painted it AA yellow and put mg montego alloys on it! anyway i digress

Start of the day the track was very 'green' and quite slippery added to the fact i have no idea what i am doing it was really quick just to spin with nothing i could do to stop it.However as it dried out later in the day it was much better, to me it seemed on the longer sweeping corners that the car had the ability to turn in but was tramping out wider due to lack of grip which i put down to the tyres. In the dry it was much easier to catch the back end when it stepped out but when you span-you span if that makes sense.

Not to detract from the car though it was fab and a great day

Hi Mark thanks for that, had a good time in it like you say.I moved to york about september/october time and was told by a friend who works for environmental health that there is a strict noise limit at elvington, however when i looked into it was told the static test was 102db at 1m and 90 db drive by at 40m(no idea what engine revs that was supposed to be at for the static test either, i took it to be 3/4 of flat out but on the day i was only asked to take it to 5000) but i think some other tracks are a lot stricter than that i beleive croft is 98db static.

Anyway with all that confusion i thought it better safe than sorry so popped it across to z's to have the bolt on silencer made, the guys did a fantastic job and had i done the day after i dropped it off! Think it was a shade over £200 for the whole lot, its all stainless tig welded, all custom made brackets in painted black, a captive bracket under the rear bumper which cant be seen from above and all it needs is 1x13mm nut and a clamp to hold it on-takes 1 min literally to fit, when we did a quick test at z's with it on we got 88dbs at 7500 rpm at 1m so im well happy with that, it was very quiet from the outside!

Would love to go to cadwell have agonised over it, but i would need a trailer and set of wheels with slicks and i just cant afford it at the mo so unless a miracle happens prob not, although i might have to come and watch

At the moment am considering what direction to go with the car at the moment, would pain me to sell it but cant help wondering what i would get for it, even considering another project but then again i can be really indecisive!
