the left front wing needs replacing.

That seems to be the only major rust on the car.. there is a fair bit of surface rust but that can easily be fixed, unless i find other things that i realy dont want lol. the drivers side door may need a new skin but not sure about that yet.

what you all think?

Good, good, get the old ones back up and running. Old ones don't die fast, come to think about it nether do the new ones.

Welcome to the group...

these 86 mayfair's seem quite popular on here, I have one too, and I know quite a few others...

that middle speaker isn't even worth having. two bolts through the parcel shelf (accessible from the boot) and it's out... the wire should run through there aswell... best bet is to take it out, and find a shelf bit of carpet from somewhere to cover up the hole. that's what I did with mine...

Welcome to the group - dont forget to use the ICE bit in the Forum, it's handy...

Best car i've found yet for doing ICE, because the battery is in the boot, so, no running power cables through the bulkhead down the car etc... but now i'm slipping off the point.

Welcome to the group from a fellow 86 mayfair owner :(

Regards

Tom

You did bloody well with that!!! The sunroof is worth more than £100 alone... Make a propper resto of it. It will be sweet.. Mines got the sun roof and its really rare. Nice one

Yeh the sunroof is 1 of the main reason i wanted the to be honest.
Its been sitting at the top of my road for well over a yr, i 1st went up to look at it about 5/6 months ago and the owner wanted 500 for it, i didnt have the money at the time so i thort id just wait a bit to see if she drops the price for it.. thn i go bak up with a mate and his dad and she goes " 100 and its urs!"!!
So yeh, i jumped at the chance! Just waitin for a garage of the council now, should be able to start work on it soon!
gonna try n get the engine started next weekend so that should be fun.

think im gonna respray it deep red with a black roof, arches, bonnet stripes etc.

forgot the pic of the interior...

WOW £100 is almost unheard of now! I have a '90 Mayfair which I got for £700 so you are extreamly lucky. My girlfriend has just bought a '88 Mayfair which is almost identical to yours inside and we are in the process of restoring her. I reckon a new paint job and some tlc and your lil Mini will look fantastic.

Welcome to TMF. I too am a proud owner of a 86 mayfair.

for a respray try Targa Red with a black roof, have a look at "SteverBlacker"s mini, itll give yo some idea.

Dont forget to post about it in the "Project" section.

that cud cost sum £££ and take a fair bit of time! (its under the rear bumper.. where 3 important things join togethet :P

i like helpfull people :P

and i think i now need a new front panel aswell

valance
valance 2

and i also need a new drivers side door! any got 1 lyin around that they want to sell???

BUT on the GOOD side!

its cleaner than before and the sunroof opens :):D

sunroof open
sunroof open 2

ill post a topic up in the project part when i get more into it.. need the garage from the council before i start doin anythin major!
or just a bit of nice DRY weather and a nice winning lottery ticket so i can buy all the panels

cheers for all the comments

1 last thing, when respraying is t best with the sunroof in or out? and is it easy to take it out and put back in?
