having just looked through a load of topics, I understatnd that the FRAMINI rear beam is not available at the moment, Huddersfield one has been re-named "shuddersfield" due to it's poor fit and tendency to break :P .....

Is there any other alternative? I'm getting coil overs and my rear subby is on the way out.... suppose i could just fit a new rear subby... but the rear beam is actually cheaper.

there is few places that sell them...the best one i found is PL minis, aluminium.... best looking i have ever seen almost bougt this when i was considering beam axle convertion i decided against it because my inner arches are reshaped and coilovers wont fit (only just tho) and also the time i had was tight atm i cant have the mini off the road (...he says with it of the road at the minute lol)

i cant find the others i looked at...will have another look

forgot link lol clicky

I thought.... £160... bit steep.... but i really want one, (got the credit card out) Clicked check out and automatically incured £28 VAT and £21 postage making a total of £209.... :P

Found the Minispares aluminium one, it looks exactly the same as the P+L one and has the same blog... similar price too.

Its arrived from P+L... with Minispares instructions and minipares stamped all over the box..... but cheaper than minispares.... no pics yet, there's basically 1 big chunk of aluminium, 4 bits of black metal bracket and loads of bags of nuts and bolts. I may send it to be powder coated or plastic coated before i fit it.... or just hammerite the bloddy thing.

A Friend of my gramps, (aged 80) has a pit in his garage and is still doing services for friends and family (charges about £10) and has offered to give me a hand, so i'll be taking it round next week(so long as the coil overs are here)... He's like a shaolin monk of the A-series too!! so i'll be letting him graze his knuckles on the hard to reach nuts and bolts while i shout encouragement from the side lines and get his wife to make the tea :) I'm sure i'm capable of doing it myself (having been trained as a production rectifier by BMW), but i just love watching old masters at work!!!!

Ok... it cost more than minispares............

Minispares 165.00 plus vat and delivery = £203.99
P+L 160 plus vat and delivery = £209.00 (though delivery was quick and i got emails at every stage, (picked, Packed, shipped etc))
Huddersfield £128.25 including vat (excluding delivery)

I was thinking about taking it to my mate who has his own engineering workshop and works with aluminium to see if he could make something similar for cheaper but to be honest, the level of workmanship looks very good and its tried and tested and for £200 i think its very good value.

heres a working link

CLICK

its not a beam axle, a beam axle is basically a pole with a wheel at each end.

i have not seen this one ebfore but it looks veryvery similar to and just as feeble as the hudderfieldspares one. i would avoid it and buy one like above.

or if you subby isnt too bad, you could chop it down, this is what i am using.
