Both bolts out. Did you also disconnect it from the clutch pedal?

Ah, plonk your head in the car and go to the pedal bit setup. I think the pedal is connected via a pin that's held in place with a split pin. Take out the split pin, take out the pin for the pedal the cyinder should lift away. Might be stick with gasket tho.

Yep, as he said.

There's a clevis joint between pedal and master cylinder push rod. Need to remove the split pin and remove clevis pin - be prepared to swear a lot removing the split pin, especially if it's rusty!

Did this a few weeks ago.

You need some needle nose pliers and good eyesight (I lacked both at the time) and a torch.

1) Remove drivers seat
2) Insert a thick cloth over seat runners
3) Lay on side/back with heaad under pedals
4) Identify split pin to remove
5) Rotate and pull out with pliers.

I messed around with different tools, while swapping with my reading glasses, finally did it with a 99p draper needle pliers from Tesco!!

One suggestion, replace it with a 'R' clip.

This is a R Clip

Getting in to rebend a split pin was a nightmare. Inserting the R clip was a doddle.

It is a personal choice though, someone with small hands would manage.

Only one is needed, the hole in the clevis pin is about 1.5mm, most decent motor factors will sell them individually for about 10p, just buy a few different sizes.

Hey,

I've got this job to look forward to tomorrow and after reading this I think i'll purchase an R clip (lol, thanks for the forwaring).

the master cylinder isn't pushing the fluid through to the slave cylinder so I'm not going to be able to bleed the fluid from the slave cylinder. Was planning on sticking a tube in the master and syphoning the fluid out... Is this ok / Will i still need to bleed the slave?

Cheers

Ste

I used an R clip, well 3 of them, they would last about a dozen clutch applications and then it and the clevis pin would be spat out with a bang. I replaced the R clip with a split pin and it has been fine ever since.
