Satin finish is much better as it retains more of the weather repellant qualities of gloss. so you still get the Matt look, but with a very dull sheen. Dirty paint is just as much of a problem as with any car, if you keep it clean it will be fine.

Matt scratches quite easily... Satin doesn't scratch as easily, and gloss is harder still.

Matt black cars are ace in my opinion, if you like the idea, do it. But i'd recommend Satin finish rather than Pure Matt.

mine was painted with 6 cans from halfords when they were on 3 for 2 :w00t:

was fine to wash off normal road spunk, the worst problem was greasy/oily fingerprints on it....but keep a can of paint in the car and touch it up when you feel the need. i resprayed my rear arches in a field on the riv run to get rid of the stone chips and scratches on me roof from putting my flip on it :dozing:

I've always had a special place in my heart for your old car Bud :w00t: she was a beauty.

Mr sheen is good for getting rid of oily finger prints etc, It's what I used to use on my Motorbike, All the bikers swore by it. :dozing:

it feels as if they are easier to apply and dries more evenly and quicker than gloass paints. are they?

One thing I discovered today about rattle can satin black, it really needs a primer under it. Where I had welded up some surplas holes on my fllip front and skimmed them with a bit of filla, 3 coats of satin and you could still see that there was filler underneath. A quick layer of primer to level it and it covered fine.
