from advice on another post i have sprayed engine start down the ait intake and engine will come to life however when cranked over with fuel to the pump it will not fire.
i have read that there is a filter in the carb! would this be the most likely cause of my problem? also just to add the engine has been dry stored for some 15 years but does turn over and is pretty clean.
firing problems! can you help?

on the side of the carb there should be a float chamber (think thats what its called), its where you attach the fuel line.. undo the three screws on the top and check theres nothing clogged in it.. if not fill the pot with fuel and try to start it,, if it runs for 15 odd seconds then its fuel pump or lines etc.. had the same prob with lack of fuel supply.. was the lines in the end...
if that doesnt work then try the technical section, half way down the main page..

my carb does not have one of these chambers on the side. its a mg metro engine but the fuel line from the pump goes directly into the carb.

i think the filter will be in the bottom, not sure how to dismantle to get to it tho, do you have a cylinder type fuel filter in line anywhere? could cause restriction

no fuel filter because the engine is in my garage out of the vehicle. just put a funnel in the fuel pump filled it with gogo juice and cranked the engine over.
checked sparks on all plugs and fuel goes down in funnel then stops going down but engine wont fire up.
when engine start is used in the air intake it tries to fire up so i assume the carb is blocked somewhere not letting fuel in.
does anyone know how to check in the carb for a filter blockage?
cheers
