The battery ran out on my mini (1996 1.3spi auto).
Any way, tried a few times and it wouldnt start, so I assumed the battery had gone.
Then I fiddled with the battery a bit, just to see how easy it was to get to (had a load of stuff in the boot). When I went back in the car the alarm light (on the dash) has started flashing and it wasnt before. My keys wouldnt switch it off and the immobiser had come on.
I swapped the keys for the other set, and the immobiliser would now swtich off ok, battery was still flat though.

Got my mate round to jump start it, connected everything up, and the immobiliser came back on again so I couldnt start the car even though I had power. Then my sister went out with the other set of keys so I couldnt try them.

Then i noticed, with the door closed the light flashes, with the door open it is on constantly.

I dont have a clue what is goin on?
(I tried the reset method in the handbook and this did nothing?)

Any ideas?

Try disconnecting the battery and turn the ignition fully on with both doors open.
Then after 10 minutes replace the battery terminal and try to start it, usually works for me.
