Hi all,

How do I go about disconnecting the current under-car fuel line from the fuel pipe? How is it connected? I haven't moved the tank yet, but I notice a bit of twisty pipe coming from the tank going through the floor, I can only see 3-4 inches of it.

Why I ask is that I have my fuel line run inside the car now and wish to connect the tank to that line.

Also, the tank is pretty much full-up. Is it worth siphoning to empty first? Any tips?

Thanks!!

The pipe goes onto a small metal tube which is part of the tank, at the back - you should be able to see it if you get your head in the boot. It has a screw-up clip on it. You will have to empty the tank otherwise fuel will *yellow human water* out when you take the hose off....I recently had this pipe split when moving the tank and I assure you it is not fun having a boot full of fuel!!

The pipe goes through a grommet in the boot floor and through to a fuel line which you can see easily enough from under the car. Perhaps you could disconnect this end and allow the fuel to drain out of the tank...

Excellent, thanks.

I think what I'll try is jack the back of the car up and disconnect the pipe from below the car, then quickly put a bucket below to catch the fuel.

Thanks!!

I just slide under the side of my El Gordo or wedge myself under the back. Don't know if it's normal to be able to move yourself right under the back of your mini but...meh I can.

FGS don't use a bucket. Just drive it 'till it's empty-ish. There's 34 litres in there if you've just filled up. A bucket only holds 10, and will probably be melted by petrol. I can just imagine four buckets of fuel slowly disolving on your drive and suddenly all spilling their lethal contents everywhere as they finally fail. Get some proper fuel cans.

Ok, no problem. I'll see if I can get my hands on a few fuel cans.

Can't drive the car, doesn't have an engine ... yet! :P
