I know the Verto clutch is different to the earlier non Verto clutch. But appart from that I always believed that the Mini and Metro shared the same 998cc engine and clutch for some time.

I think the Metro has a different clutch slave cylinder - maybe - i can't really remember.

Isn't there also a difference with the Thermostat bypass - mini has one outside the head, Metro's don't - maybe!?

I always thought Metos had cable clutches. The old clutch arms were long and the verto is short.

It is on the 1275 so would think the 998 is no differant, it has a sandwich plate for the thermastat and bypass.

You can't tell by the clutch arm, unless your engine has the late Metro cable clutch arm bodged into a hydraulic system. As said above both cars had the same engine and clutch setup for a long time. Stick up your engine number if you have one (the first half is enough) and someone will tell you where it is from originally.
